The number one fear of Americans is public speaking or the fear of oral communication. About 1 out of every 5 of us have a serious struggle when it comes to talking to people. It causes anxiety, conflict, and pushes us out of our comfort zone… We don’t want to look foolish… It is no wonder that when we Christians are confronted by the Great Commission, most of us experience guilt. And it is no wonder, that when ask people to share their faith, they respond in debilitating communication apprehension.

What are you afraid of?

Today we are going to begin a new series of messages on Overcoming our Fears, and Sharing Our Faith. Let me zoom in on the number one fear of Americans. The fear of speaking in public. Most people are afraid of talking to groups of people, large or small, and a great majority of us are painfully uncomfortable talking to individuals, especially strangers. That’s why making friends and building relationships is so difficult for us. And that is precisely why sharing our faith ranks so high in the fear factor scale. We are afraid of what people might think of us. We don’t want them to think we are stupid. We don’t feel well versed enough in our faith to bring it up. In this new series of messages, Pastor Dennis aims to conquer your fears so that you can be an effective witness.

Do you believe in ghosts?

Is it my imagination, or are there unseen enemies lurking about? The words that whisper in my mind and all around me… am I the only one who hears them, or do other people hear whispers as well. Is there any such thing as ghosts, ghouls and monsters under my bed, or is there some rational explanation for what goes bump in the night.
