It is amazing what the right environment will do for learning. The disciples were in the right environment for learning. Jesus told them that he was planning to leave them! What would they do without their Rabbi? How would they function in a world without Jesus? They were now sufficiently motivated to learn, and Jesus was about to teach them some of the most profound truths of his entire ministry.
