John 11

Jesus was in a predicament. His good friend Lazarus was dying. He could go to Judea and heal his friend, but he would be putting his own life in jeopardy. The Scribes and Pharisees were looking for an opportunity to get their hands on him to. As long as Jesus stayed away, he didn’t have to face the attempts on his life. The raising of Lazarus from the dead was the climax of conflict between Jesus and the Sanhedrin. Up until that point they had only been plotting his death… But with Lazarus alive, they held an official meeting and made it a matter of record. Let it be recorded, let it be done. Jesus must die.
